Bio

The Rose West was founded in 2010 from the ashes of former progressive rock act Tryptich. Songwriters Robare Pruyn and Aaron Starkweather approached the translation of their former project's material into a more eclectic mix of the various musical inspirations the pair drew from. Adding Alex Bell to play drums shortly thereafter, the band began playing extensively throughout New York City.

By the following year the band was waist deep in the process of recording their entirely self funded debut album. Taking advantage of the crowdsourcing platform Kickstarter, they began working with producers Mike Birnbaum and Chris Bittner (Coheed & Cambria, Three, The Sleeping). With the aid of Daniel Grimsland (of Three) filling in on bass along with a colorful array of guest performers, the album progressed rapidly. By mid-January that debut record, "When the Road Darkens", was released to an eagerly awaiting fanbase.

The music of The Rose West draws deeply on their rock forebears from the '60s and '70s, including drum sounds inspired by Zeppelin, soaring progressively bent solo passages that bring Roger Waters to mind and vocals that are equal parts Rush and the Beach Boys. All this seen through a lens of modern alternative rock, as much at home with Muse and The Dear Hunter as their older inspirations.

TRW is currently hard at work promoting "When the Road Darkens", having taken on full time bassist Edmond Landova and keyboard player Mike Lunapiena to bring the production of the album into a live concert experience.
