Bio

“The Rosewood Girl” is a group formed by Greenpoint, Brooklyn - based singer/songwriter Susan Margolis. Susan started fronting bands and playing the Southeastern college circuit in the ‘90’s while attending the University of South Carolina. In 1996 she moved to the East Village where she played as bassist/singer for “Canaveral”, a Sonic Youth - influenced group that played regularly on the NYC club circuit. After several years of playing bass and guitar for a number of NYC (Vitamin D, The Owl Motel, Week at the Lake) and SC (Science Knows No Sin, Speed Kitty) groups she released 2 solo CDs under the name “Mouse”. “Mouse” was supported by local NYC players Konrad Meissner ( “The Silos”), Pete Galub (“Pete Galub and The Annuals”) and Dennis Cronin (“Vitamin D”). Mouse played for several years in NYC and the Southeast, and the records aired on both NPR and college/internet radio stations.

Last spring, Susan picked up the guitar and joined forces with the rhythm section of Brooklyn band “Himalaya”, including Nicholas Maglione on drums and Thomas Lawrie on bass and solo artist Pete Galub on lead guitar. They have been playing NYC since summer 2011 and completed a residency at NYC venue The Lakeside Lounge. With the help of engineer Charles Burst at Seaside Lounge, producer Mark Ephraim at Hole In The Sky and Alex Saltz at APS Mastering, "The Rosewood Girl" has completed a new full length record called "Need A Dog" which was released in late 2012.

Since October 2013 we have added more girl on guitar with Kristen Reed on the lead guitar!
