"FACTOR Grant Support Letter"

April 29, 2009

30 Commercial Rd
Toronto, Ontario

Dear F.A.C.T.O.R. Judges,

I am writing to express my support for the musical group The Rosewoods and their submission for the Juried Sound Recording F.A.C.T.O.R. Loan.

I've been following the development of The Rosewoods for the last year. They are currently the most exciting new group in Waterloo region and gaining momentum with every performance. With their unique melodic, British influenced Indie-rock sound, their unforgettable performances and ongoing commitment and focus on career development, they have great potential for artistic and commercial success.

Musically, their material fills a void in contemporary Indie-rock. Their songs are well crafted and masterfully arranged, impeccably presented and instantly memorable. In a very short amount of time, they have played an impressive list of venues and continue to garner industry interest. With the support of F.A.C.T.O.R., the great potential that The Rosewoods display will be realized.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Ryan Christopher fronts the band with lead vocals and adds a certain raw authenticity to the music. Kent Randall hails from Peterborough, Ontario and as resident keyboard/pianist is the musicologist of the group. Cousins Aaron Muniak, bass, and Tyler Plante, lead guitar, spent their adolescence growing up a few blocks apart in Welland, Ontario, honing their diversely influenced skills. Lastly, on drums and percussion, Andreas Houlios pulls from a vast array of cultural stylings and continues to create innovative beats that drive the band forward and hold them together.

Formed officially in December of 2008, The Rosewoods (in their newest form) have been busy writing, gigging and recording. They have recently finished recording their official EP with producer Giuliano Baglioni at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. They've headlined at notable venues including Toronto's The Rivoli, The Reverb, The Hideout and Peterborough's The Montreal House and have shared the stage with the likes of The Waking Eyes, Paper Lions, Stereos and Natasha Waterman. The boys were also finalists at Indie Week 2009 in Toronto.

Having been described as "A rock and roll powered machine," it is quite obvious that these lads play because they love it, and they want to share it with you. Enjoy.
