Bio

Roy Louis is a native born of the Caribbean Island, Curacao - the Netherlands Antilles.
His father Edgar Supriana , a well known Trumpeter/Arranger in the Cuban tradition has created a very unique way of expressing antillean music through the sound of his orchestra that has become the standard way to compositional / musical structure of todays popular music on the Island.

At the age of 7, he and his brother Elmer Louis formed their first group in early 1960 with great success. With the blessings of their family they left Curacao to Europe at a relatively young age for music studies and to persue their dreams as professionals in early 1972.

Both brothers played in Munich, Germany ‘74 with the Dusko Goykovic Jazz Orchestra, when they were discovered by Klaus Doldinger and asked to join the group Passport. This led to many TV appearances, recordings and touring extensively throughout Europe.

In ’78, they formed the group, Head, Heart & Hands with former collegues Wolfgang Schmid, Guillermo Marchena, Geoff Stradling and Bobby Stern, which resulted in the recording of several albums and international tours.

In Fall ’82, Roy Louis left the scene to persue his dreams in the U.S. After graduating at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, both brothers settled in New York, where they form the Roy Louis Band. Roy soon was invited to join the Roy Ayers Ubiquity, followed by many international tours with Roy Ayers, Isaac Hayes, Tom Brown, Lonnie Liston Smith and founding of the music production company Paragon Productions, Inc. New York City, while Elmer joined the ranks of Tania Maria, Isaac Hayes and Phil Wilson. Currently, both Roy and Elmer found peace of mind in Germany, Europe where they are now residing and continuing their professional career.
