Bio

Active for over 10 years, Salt Lake City’s The Rubes celebrate the independent spirit of rock & roll. Defying the conventional short-term rock band lifespan, The Rubes’ secret to longevity is the unique chemistry they share on the stage. From early performances as a ‘50s rock & roll cover group to stints performing with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson, the emphasis has been to keep the music fun, raw and a little bit different.

Sticking to their DIY “Basement Rock” style, The Rubes have self-released 2003’s Clown College, 2006’s Mutiny To A Revolution, and 2008’s The Rubes. Fans enjoy the eclectic but familiar influences spanning these albums of original material, mixed with the quirky and sarcastic lyrical sensibility in songs like “The Rubes Vs. Viacom,” “Pheremones” and “I’ll Try Anything Once.”

GREG MIDGLEY is the keyboardist, guitarist and a lead vocalist for The Rubes. The Rubes have opened for such national acts as Wanda Jackson, King Khan & The Shrines, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Andre Williams.
