"Rumour has it"

'Tipperary five piece The Rumours may have confusion/trouble ahead on the name front, since Graham Parkers legendary backing band was called The Rumour. None the less they have turned in a fine cd with the opening salvo 'Run and Hide' full of hard rocking
melodic exuberance and an engaging performance from vocalist Lorcan Lyons. 'When the sun hits your eyes' is another stomper with backward guitars and another ace performance from Lyons on an appealing song from guitarist Eoin Ryan. The more that i mean it' shows a more reflective, acoustic approach and brings out the Del Amitri in them. More please.' - Jackie Hayden

"The Big Indie Comeback VOL.1"

The opening guitar lick from Run And Hide immediately bring classic moments of The Cult to mind, but they don’t really follow that train of though for the most part. None the less, this is a big rock sound, all stadium choruses and anthemic roaring guitars. Luckily their singer has the lungs for it and keeps up as opposed to be dominated or left behind. In fact, by the end of this stirring song, you’re left thinking of Thin Lizzy more than anything else, and that’s a pretty high compliment.

Bio

The Rumours are a Tippereay based alternative rock band, consisting of five friends all woven together by their passion for writing strong, meaningful rock and roll songs.

Lorcan Lyons (vocals) Eoin Ryan (lead guitar). Barry Mc Loughlin (guitar). Nigel Grace (bass guitar) and James Phelan (drums) first got together late 2004 in their hometown of Thurles, Co. Tipperary. In the months that followed they have managed to record 12 tracks spread across 3 very impressive demos.

In the short time since these sessions, The Rumours have managed to attract the attention of many people in the music industry, both in Ireland, the UK and America. With one of these demos hand-picked by Jackie Hayden as 'Pick of the Fortnight' in Ireland’s leading music magazine Hotpress, it provided the band with much deserved national exposure, while the championing of the band by influential radio presenter Alison Curtis has added much heavy-weight support. In July 2006, Matchbox Recordings in London, England, chose 'Run and Hide' to be featured as a leading track on their prestigious compilation album called 'The Big Indie Comeback'. This album saw The Rumours become part of a worldwide release showcase, which features the best new artists and bands from around the world.

With songs jointly and individually written by each member, this a band that takes full benefit of the creative input from each individual in the band. The Rumours resultant sound ranges from soft acoustic melodies to Indie Brit-pop driven guitar rock. Riffs and rhythms combine to produce powerful, intimate and captivating songs that have already won them a dedicated fan-base around Ireland through their regular live appearances.

The band have been compared to everyone from Ash to Ride, The Boo Radley, The Small Faces and Oasis. But comparisons change with each new song and exhilarating live performance.

The highlight of 2006 arrived in September when the band took to the stage to rapturous crowds at the Electric Picnic Festival in Stradbally, Co.Laois Ireland. Sharing the stage with Polly Harvey, Graham Coxon and Josh Ritter was a privileged experience for this hard working band.

Hard work and dedication paid off for The Rumours in November this year when they managed to secure a recording deal with legendary Irish independent record label, Reekus Records. “Keep It Going” will be The Rumours first official release, due out in July 2007.
