Despite working together for barely half a year, the Rum Runnerz' combined 40 years' worth of musical 'experience has given the duo a kickstart that most bands could only dream of.
Since their inception, RumRun- nerz has gigged out on an almost weekly basis, never really experiencing the booking challenges that await most groups.
Armed with covers of classic hippie music, a base of original material and an appreciation for live improv, RumRunnerz frequently takes its mellow, roots-inspired show through the Lehigh Valley and into Philly.

If you could play any ven ue, where would it be?
Mike: Red Rocks. I've never been there, but lt's beautiful out there.
Ed: Bonnaroo Festival. It is the place to be. It is every jam band' in the country. It's a huge, huge festival; and it's nothing but music 24/7. It's a real neat, happening place. .
If your music were to be used in any movie, what would it fit with best?
Ed: Easy Rider. But they al- ready did that one, didn't they? Our music would probably fit best with some independent film, something grainy on the screen. That's kind of the way we are: kind of grainy.
(~! If you could play back up for any band, or if you had to be a cover band for any band, which would you choose?
Ed: Grateful Dead. We do a lot of Dead stuff and really like the free, improvisational aspect of it. ~
Mike: Dylan or The Band.

Bio

The Rum Runnerz are Mike Gallagher (Vocals/Guitar) and Ed McCartan (Guitar/Vocals). The Runnerz have been referred to as a “jam duo” performing their own inspired versions of classic tunes by artists such as

The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Band,
Van Morrison, The Allman Brothers, CSN
and others.

Long time friends, Mike and Ed started performing together as the Rum Runnerz in May 2007 and have performed to great reviews at a wide variety of Venues in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and were featured on 90.3 FM's Artist Spotlight in August 2007. With their combination of musicianship, harmony and improvisation they bring a fun and creative twist to these great classic songs, as well as their original tunes.

Mike and Ed have been professional musicians for the past 50 years combined. Mike has worked with the Grateful Dead inspired “Me & My Uncle” band as well as a solo performer. Ed had worked primarily as a Jazz guitarist for the past 10 years including recording and performing with Gerald Veasley, Patti Austin, Relatively Speaking as well as many other notable artists.
