"The Sam Joole Band"

Watching the Sam Joole Band its not hard to pick who Sam Joole is. Lou Reeds face stretched across his chest, bounding off speakers , singing to thousands, this frontman clearly has his sights on something bigger. Like Stadium big. At one point the band indulges in all manner of Synchronised Pogoing, head slamming And spinning around. The Sound is a heady mix of guitars and funked up bass, a Wall of dense melodic rock.

"Jager Uprising - Melbourne"

The Sam Joole Band are a three piece featuring Sam Joole, Robbie Roberts on bass and Tull Kidron on drums, plus a synth that adds backing tracks. They are polished unit playing a brand of pub rock that will go down well around the country. The band work hard and look the part. Sam has a good strong voice and the songs speak of experience of life. They were a cut above the other bands. A recent appearance on the Sydney Footy Show was a highlight for them. I liked the synth which was used to add loops to the sound. Robbie was into it, playing hard and losing himself in the performance. You will enjoy this show.

"Press Release - Album Launch"

THE SAM JOOLE BAND

Debut Album: VAULT

Sydney electro pop-rockers, The Sam Joole Band, release their long awaited debut album, VAULT, on (Freestate Records) on Oct 13th 2005.

The band have spent the last year in the studio, tracked with legendary producer Spencer May emerging with an album that captures the full power of the Sam Joole Band live experience and blends it with a high technology production ethic, a product of singer Sam Joole`s never ending quest to take World music ideas and give them a fresh Australian feel.

All songs are original – and are the distillation of six years work. “ I wrote the first version of Comic Books (Tack 2) in 1995. Since then it has been re-written and re-arranged a number of times. Versions have been produced in London and Sydney. Throughout this period I have tried to refine the music down to a single core idea. Really it is only now that I think the music is good enough to be released. “

‘The introspective and deeply aware Thing That You Want ( track one ) is my reflection on being dicked around by big record companies in the UK – everyone hates their robot world – it is up to us artists to keep reminding them about who pays their wages’. The decadent and – poppy - humour of Computer Girl (track ten ) was written in Japan after my exposure to Japanese pop played in venues with really low ceilings. Human Highway (Track 4 – and the first single from the album) was written with a manic depressive French drummer in a London squat ‘This ode to Neil Young is definitely the soundtrack to America’s next road movie.’ He said. Again and Again (Track 2) is a love song dedicated to Cate Blanchett – ‘we are looking forward to recording her live and nude. Whiskey does not need explaining to any man who thought they may have been in love. It is basically the Bondi Blues.’

The VAULT album is a heady mix of Surf Sonic Love Rock. “It reflects the sounds and rhythms of an Australian beach town – it is what happens when you take the great traditions of UK and American pop and add sun.”

Says Joole: “When I listen back to Vault I feel great satisfaction. There are many ways to make a great record and each one is like a newborn baby with its own temperament and talent. Personally when I listen to Vault I’m excited by the sound. In the making of this record the songs have grown and expanded both sonically and in their message. To me it’s that process that has produced a record I am proud to put out there for people to listen to.”

The Sam Joole Band comprises: Sam Joole (vox, guitar, synth production). Sam has spent two years in London where he worked with Lemon D and Dillinger among others; and has traveled to all points of the globe listening to and playing music. Tull Kidron on percussion and backing vocals has played in a number of bands in and around Sydney. Mike Roberts is a hot new Bass player from the central coast – who is young enough never to have experienced a knock-back.

The Sam Joole Band will mark the release of the album with a series of live shows across Sydney between now and February.
