BandMetalPunk

featuring members from the blamed. aggressive chicago based hardcore, without the emo. we tried to bring the inie rock influence of the blamed and the heaviness of living sacrifice to the satire table.

Biography

The Satire, based out of Chicago, IL, was started in 2003 as a project band by Living Sacrifices Lance Garvin and The Blamed's Bryan Gray. Lance and Bryan started working together after Bryan left The Blamed to play in Living Sacrifice, but soon after the band dispersed and The Satire was conceived.
Bryan met guitarist Jason Thompson at a Living Sacrifice show after Jason approached Bryan because everyone thinks they are brothers and Jason was often mistaken for being in The Blamed. His current band was getting ready to play their last show, and Bryan was looking for musicians to collaborate with. Timing is everything.

In the early stages, The Satire was known as The Blamed Is Dead, and played several Cornerstone Festivals (IL, NC, FL) as well as Freakstock in Boxborg, Germany. Since then they have persevered on as The Satire, and shared the stage with such artists as The Chariot, A Life Once Lost, Spitfire, Fear Before The March Of Flames, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Damiera, The Handshake Murders, Benea Reach, Scarlet and countless others.

After recording in February at Electrical Audio with Greg Norman (who recorded such bands as Neurosis, Pelican, Zwan, Russian Circles, Sleeping At Last, Godspeed! You Black Emperor and The Blamed's final album Give Us Barabbas on Tooth & Nail Records) The Satire polished their sound; ready to bring everything they have to the table.

Come bust a move to where the games are played, it's chill, it's fresh, it's Noah's Arcade The Satire.

Lyrics

purpose of the pointless

Written By: the satire/ aaron boynton

The Purpose of the Pointless:
I think / there's something / to be / said for all this / empty /
meaningless / striving / after the wind
There's purpose to the pointless

Waken / to find that / nothing / is sacred here / nothing / glory fades / no
one / will breath until / we can / accept what / few choose / to admit to /
our joy / relies on / truth and / finding sorrow

Vanity

In what we thought was you / we must accept what few intend to choose /
we'll choose

I thought it catastrophic / the honesty of faith / with both sides bladed /
our metal has been polished / our metal has been sheathed / now finally
wielded.

In what we thought was you / we must accept what few intend to choose /
we'll choose

Vanity

patience silence

Written By: the satire/ aaron boynton

Patience / Silence:
Sweet change / how long 'til your voice / will it ever grace my ears / sweet
change / my throat is weak from pleading / for your presence / your presence
is not known

I've seen my words / each cursed letter unknown / who are you / a question
scarcely asked

Oh sweet muse / give us an ending / just a taste / to tide us over

I've seen my words / each cursed letter unknown / who are you / a question
scarcely asked

Change I need / finds / no host (x4)

Close / your eyes / and / become

Find / no / host /

aspirations of greatness

Written By: the satire/ aaron boynton

Aspirations of Greatness:
Feigning a memory / losing all the words
Admit disaster / admit disaster / welcome the ending / welcome the ending
Oh the sweetness of / dramatic irony
Remove the subtext / remove the subtext / replace the lead role / replace
the lead role

(write me out) A list actor out of work / (write me out) another broken vow
/ (write me out) Hollywood has turned it's back / (write me out) meaning
lost in obscure lines

Underlying / unforgotten
Dialogue incomplete
Losing meaning / losing function
Values I once had

(write me out) A list actor out of work / (write me out) another broken vow
/ (write me out) Hollywood has turned it's back / (write me out) meaning
lost in obscure lines
