The Saucermen

The Saucermen

The Saucermen are an instrumental five-piece from Winnipeg, formed in May 2003 and hell bent on world domination ever since. The band has chosen to forego vocals in favour of a more unique sound, focusing upon their intense live performances. By all accounts, they have made the right choice.

In the spring of 2004, the band recorded their second disc, a self-titled full-length CD. To date, the results have been truly impressive. They’ve received airplay on several mainstream rock radio stations here in Winnipeg, appearing at numerous in-studio interviews, including two appearances on Power 97’s River City Rawk Show. The band has also found a home on university radio, most notably on UMFM and CKUW, where the band’s disc spent a significant amount of time in the Top Ten. So much time, in fact, that Earshot, the National Campus and Community Radio Report, listed The Saucermen at #58 on their Top 200 chart for total national airplay in January 2005.

The Saucermen have already completed a video for their first single, “Mastersound”. The band recently began shooting footage for their next video, due to be completed near the end of 2005.

The band has played almost 60 shows together, mainly here in Winnipeg, but occasionally venturing beyond Winnipeg’s borders for various rock festivals, including their inclusion in two festivals at the Grand Moon Amphitheatre at Grand Beach.

The Saucermen have had the opportunity to share the stage with a diverse array of notable acts, including the Killer Dwarfs, Noise Therapy, Jet Set Satellite, and an upcoming show opening for Wide Mouth Mason.
