"IT WOULD BE A SCANDAL NOT TO SEE THEM"

On a cold and rainy night The Scandal truly raised the temperature at The Rifle club in Fratton. The Portsmouth three-piece that includes the incredibly talented Brendan Mcveagh on vocals and lead guitar, Owen Blades on bass and Dave Lindsay on drums put on a truly outstanding show as they wowed the crowd with their bluesy rock sound.

Each track was full of electrifying solos, pounding bass and thunderous drums and the crowd answered every song with rapturous applause. The Scandal finished with an incredible cover of Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix. It takes a brave band to cover a Hendrix classic and to do so with a full guitar solo takes real talent. The Scandal were more than capable of this as Brendan Mcveagh even played part of the solo with his teeth.

The close of thier set was met with cries for an encore and after a minute of two they give the fans exactly what they wanted.

All in all The Scandal were incredible, and it wont be long before they are playing to sold-out crowds night after night so get out and see them before they really take off.

"The Scandal"

"The first time I saw The Scandal was at Hamptons in early February. The Portsmouth 3-piece infuse a heritage of bluesy, riff crushing dexterity with a very modern likely lad ethos that sees them cascade their way through their own back catalogue as well as the odd Jimi Hendrix cover, perfectly executed in their own Southern manor.

They can really fucking play"

The thing that separates The Scandal from a lot of other indie bands is their ambition to create something more edgy. They don't just take influences from the obvious, they're infatuated by all things music, namely a back catalogue of blues riffing, Hendrix-merging rock and roll.

It's uber contagious blues-bopping, gritty indie-rock that howls like B.B King yet sounds as modern as it can. A fantastic example of demonstrating adoration for both the past and the present. And to be fair, once you've seen them you'll know what I mean.
