THE SCOTCH OF SAINT JAMES

THE SCOTCH OF SAINT JAMES

 Perth, Western Australia, AUS
BandRockAlternative

In but mere words, imagine the groove of Supergrass, mixed with the dark beauty and tones of BRMC, surging with the stoner bliss of QOTSA, all smattered with the rock’n’roll dance ethic of Kasabian. Ironed out in desert rock'n'roll and with a penchant for the massive. Someone say MOTIVATED STONER?

Biography

"As it stands, the door bitches say 'you just missed an awesome act' if you show up after their set" (FasterLouder).

“With each successive release their brand of Black Rebel-esque rock ‘n’ roll has slowly grown and matured. Starting as a bit of a mish mash of influences and gradually maturing into a well-honed sharp pointy stick of stoner-cool-as-fuck-rock… they can back up all the tight rock licks in their recordings with enough swagger to make Vince Noir self conscious.” (Who The Bloody Hell Are They)

Lyrics

Square Eyes

Written By: Micahel Paver

Take me for what I am not for what I may be
Cause I wont be yours for long

So why do you see the world so square through your round eyes?

I hope I’m not grossing you out
I hope I’m not letting you down
So lets get high instead of shout
And I’ll pick my feet up off this ground

So hold your piece or for heavens sake don’t hold mine
Cause my mind is getting loose

So why do you see the world so square through your round eyes?

I hope I’m not grossing you out
I hope I’m not letting you down
So lets get high instead of shout
And I’ll pick my feet up off this ground

The Happy Peacock

Written By: Micahel Paver

There’s nothing as sombre
As a disappointed iguana
But there’s only one thing to polarise it
The happy peacocks eyes
That’s not distorted by my country side

How dark can it be before you can’t see that your devil aint no saviour
But I’m feeling fine

I’m taking myself to bed
Cause I might be of more use there instead
And I’m not trying to pretend
That the government is my only friend
And pays me for nothing

How dark can it be before you can’t see that your devil aint no saviour
But I’m feeling fine

I’m not staying till the end
Cause none of you are any of my real friends

How dark can it be before you can’t see that your devil aint no saviour
But I’m feeling fine

Blue Plastic Spoon

Written By: Micahel Paver

My wallets empty and my head is full
Just like said conscience turned and called me a fool
So lets not play the judge now let the jury decide
Is that a silver spoon reflection you can see in my eyes

Im not playing no fool

He’s only a child now just a soldier of the day
Forlorn and forgotten is prescribed for his stay
By those who know better oh lord here me say
It’s the loving of a woman that will leed him astray

Im not playing no fool

The light and the darkness and shadows remain
Not a bone in my body admits to your pain
And if you stand alone would you realise
That’s a blue soul talking plastic spoon in your eyes

Im not playing no fool

Hey Man

Written By: Timothy Hamzah

Hey man
Why you got that look on your face
You seem outta sorts, outta place
Is there something you are trying to hide you look guilty as hell

Hey man
What goes around comes son
Soon you'll realise all you've done you've been doing to yourself
You big you've got no-one left around you

Taking everthing that you want

Hey man
You say you've got a spine in that back
Seems it might have slipped outta crack
From your broken little bully heart
Mum and daddy didn't love ya

Taking everything that you want

Well i take what want man
Everything I need man to get out
I said I take what I want man
Everything I need man to get out
Away

Taking everything you want

Bloated Country Pride

Written By: Micahel Paver

Does one have to be a philanthropist to think that can actually amount to anything these days
I mean when we get back from doing the best that we can is there anything we can really account for?
I grew a man beyond my tight seat and guilty stride
Half filled with love for my love and not my bloated country pride.

Breathe now

Ive grown a man but my heart's shattered
I think its probably better off if you don’t know
I lost my shirt for no good reason but you still want a man now don’t you
I think its probably better off if you don’t know

When I saddled up for my second course of nothing and man did I have some real good energy flowing
My friends will sit around and tell me their good looking but they’ll tell you your good looking too
And I been a year or two on you son but boy am I still alive I get my lessons from my living not my TV or my friends sense of style

Oliver

Written By: Michael Paver

Watch your mouth now son for fear of being disarmed
We’ll say you back I swear, no we don’t mean you no harm
If your footing’s loose, try not to slide away
And if you wake up tomorrow son, You can forget about today

Credit keeps me from slipping
Credit keeps me from slipping

I see you walking tall, I see you walking o’so proud
Speak up a little man, I can’t hear for how loud you shout
We don’t talk much now, don’t keep it all inside
For there’s nothing left at all, except my credit card and my pride

Credit keeps me from slipping
Credit keeps me from slipping

Do you think one day we’ll get out of sleepy town
As the wolves come marching in
Do you think one day we’ll sleep all through the night
As the wolves come marching in

Don’t blame it on the son

Don’t blame it on your son

Sir Richard McGavin

Written By: Michael Paver

I can’t believe what I’m seeing are they for real
Once a heated moment can they not feel

So tell me saddles are you scared to go out tonight

I can’t say I blame you
For staying home tonight

It can’t be healthy and it can’t be clean
Is this the line that divides between distinguished and all the obscene?

So tell me saddles are you scared to go out tonight

I can’t say I blame you
For staying home tonight

So is this a disease or am I just scared at what’s staring back at me?

So tell me saddles are you scared to go out tonight

I can’t say I blame you
For staying home tonight
