The Scribbles

The Scribbles

BandPopAcoustic

The Scribbles are a ukulele based indie-pop band that put on a wacky and theatrical show. These 12 year olds write and perform all their own material. If Kimya Dawson gave birth to Wayne Coyne's lovechild, it would be a Scribble.

Biography

The Scribbles want you to know that "Robots are Taking over the World," "You Can't Hide from the Monsters in Your Closet," and above all else, "It's OK to be Different." Three friends who share a passion for music, Olivia Bacon, Joe Misterovich, and Connor Mitchell write all of their own songs and play instruments from another era, like ukulele, melodica, tambourine, and glockenspiel. One part indie hipsters, one part vaudeville act, this trio of 12 year olds have charmed audiences in their hometown of Springfield, MO and across the Internet through YouTube and MySpace.

Imagine The Flaming Lips as 12 year olds and you start to get an idea of The Scribbles act. They have been mentored by their friends and local indie favorite Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Their songs have been compared to Daniel Johnston and Bishop Allen. Their influences include The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Flaming Lips, Bjork, Sufjan Stevens, NeverShoutNever, Low, Jason Lytle, The Decemberists, B52's, PlayRadioPlay!, Radiohead, The Pogues, and Belle and Sebastian.

Lyrics

The Robot Song

Written By: Joseph Misterovich

This is an emergency
Robots are taking over the world
Right now you should panic
Because you got nothing better to do

Robots are taking over the world
They will destroy us all

Don't worry we built some robots
To destroy all the others
They guarantee us a victory
In the war for humanity

Breaking news I've just been informed
Our robot army has just been swarmed
Oh no what shall we do what shall we do
Is it time to pack our bags
And head to the moon

Robots are taking over the world
They will destroy us all

Now you're ruled by the robots
Now you're ruled by the robots
They're evil
Now you're ruled by the robots
They're evil
Now you're ruled by the robots
They're evil

Robots have taken over the world
They now control our minds
