"Sea Dragons CD review"

Darryl Thurston formed the Sea Dragons to showcase his sparkly pop songwriting. Think of the Rolling Stones without the pseudo-Satanic side, with a little George Harrison and bubblegum psychedelia thrown into the pot.
"Sweet Delilah" is an obvious but irrestible pop nugget. Each song tickles the pop funny bone in a slightly different way.

"deltachord review"

Drown is reminiscent of a Beatles sitar opening, quickly going to a more power driven style, with metal guitar hero moments, rockin' drums, and good harmony. Stop Draggin' Me Down has some nice echo twangy guitar licks, followed by harder guitar, bass, and drums, with good vocals. Come September is a mid-sixties like song in lyrics and sound. It is a wonderful, rocky, harmonized song with fuzz guitar. - tennerblog.com

"Sea Dragons EP review"

Thick, buzzing instrumentation sets the classic rock tone on Sea Dragons’ self-titled EP. The band’s five songs have a consistent sound that pay real tribute to their influences while still making their sound their own - Plug In Music

"Sea Dragons Ep review"

Five bits of rockin' roots stuff that feels so nice. Nothing complicated; just jangly guitar riffs banged out over a laid back rhythm section.
It sounds so simple...when done right. Sea Dragons are much more rock than, say, Americana--in fact, they're pretty much all rock, except for Daryl Thurston's raggedy vocals. And that combo is most appealing, as I've noted in a number of the reviews in this issue.
Nothing wrong with solid rock and roll, especially when it's played as seamlessly as it is here

Bio

The Sea Dragons are a NYC based pop/rock band founded by singer, songwriter and producer Darryl Thurston. “sparkly pop songwriting. Think of the Rolling Stones without the pseudo-Satanic side, with a little George Harrison and bubblegum psychedelia thrown into the pot. Each song tickles the pop funny bone in a slightly different way.” Jon Sobel Music Critic, The Bagel and the Rat

The Sea Dragons have quickly gained a reputation as a solid musical entity with tightly produced recordings and a live show filled with strong well-crafted songs with unforgettable choruses. Through internet radio play, interviews and performances The Sea Dragons are rapidly gaining momentum. Their 5 song EP is receiving excellent press.

Darryl is a multi-instrumentalist who also produces the bands recordings in his home studio. As a guitarist his work has been heard on HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, ESPN, etc, as well as film, TV and radio jingles. He is also a video editor with an award winning film to his credit, a painter and amateur astronomer.

When looking to put a band together to play the new songs he recorded Darryl ran into Nova Scotia native Rob Ritchie, an accomplished jazz and rock guitarist. Rob was giving guitar lessons to all the neighborhood kids. They met in a mutual friend’s basement, started playing and Darryl knew he was the guy. As Darryl explains “He’s a great guitarist and I asked him if he would play bass. Lucky for me he said yes.”

Rob was in a band with his friend Mike Beck, a Berkley schooled multi-instrumentalist who like Darryl first started out on drums. “We needed a drummer and Mike heard a disk and said yes. He also has a great voice so with Mike and Rob hitting those harmonies it really made the sound jell.”

With the band members in place The Sea Dragons are currently playing live shows, making pod cast appearances and preparing to shoot and edit their own music video. Look for The Sea Dragons to release a full length CD on their own label.
