Bio

The Sea That Dried Up and Became a Parking Lot is a one man band that uses a loop machine to layer sounds in real time to create dense art rock grooves one piece at a time. The premise of the band is quite simple, sound like a Steve Reich remix album. An electrified vibraphone is run through guitar effects boxes to produce a palette of sound. World (pandeiro) and classical percussion (triangle, tamborine) are layered over top to provide a looped beat with an inherently organic feel. Borrowing as much from Philip Glass, Steve Reich, and John Adams as from Xiu Xiu, Aphex Twin, and David Byrne, The Sea That Dried Up makes music that bridges high art from the past century, minimalism and rock music.
