Bio

A small town in Bavaria, 2005: surprisingly, the result of the other night’s carnival party is more than a massive hangover plus the partial remembrance of things you shouldn’t have said and/or done: it’s a band! And it answers to the name of… The Sensational Skydrunk Heartbeat Orchestra. “Wow! That sounds like a fascinating, mind-boggling band to me!” you might say. And, you are right: The Sensational Skydrunk Heartbeat Orchestra is the wildest mixture of music since… I don’t know when.
After coming second in the competition „Band of the year“ in Augsburg the same year, the band can already record its first EP "Having a pretty long bandname we decided to take a short one for this EP, but damn! it didn’t work out."
This EP already gives its listeners a first impression of what a band, made up of loads of instruments and characters, can do. This unique music is coloured by the offbeat and rhythms that are good to dance to. With a mix of influences from rock, pop, hip hop, funk, reggae and even polka you get a completely new style of music that can only be called „skydrunk“.
After many performances and shows – with highlights like the Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Udine, Italy the Pfingst Open Air in Passau or the Popcity Festival in Augsburg – the band records its first original single: a cover version of Bobby McFerrin’s No.1 single „Don’t worry, be happy“ with the B-Side „Grandpa“. In the aftermath there are more gigs, bigger stages and thrilled fans.
In September 2009 their debut album „Grown“, has been released on Rookie Records. The single record and the album lead to airplays on radio stations such as BR3, FM4, HR3, Radio Fritz Berlin or Radio Gong Würzburg.
With this album, the band can finally show that it is more than just another fantastic live band. The orchestra shows its whole repertoire of musical influences. They perform not only what one might call party music but also good pop songs with beautiful melodies and smart lyrics.
And if the rainy weather drowns this year’s summer, „Grown“ will be the ray of sunlight that turns autumn into the new summer.
