Still working on that hot first release.

The Setup started out with singer/songwriter Carlos Perla writing folk inspired songs. After hitting the coffee shops with his acoustic he realized the songs were really rockers.

After a time The Setup's current lineup was solidified with like minded NYC music scene veterans.

Carlos and Mark Collom, now the lead guitarist; first met while working together. Their conversations started off with their equal love for the punk and goth scenes of NYC before the city streets became gentrified and "safe". That led to talk of music, Punk bands, Glam Rock, Lou Reed, Johnny Marr and finally making music.

Mark hadn't picked up his guitar in 5 years but after a near fatal head on collision he saw that his priorities needed some reevaluating! Guitar and music found itself back on top. Being that Mark had been in several bands in L.A. and NYC it just seemed like the right thing. And Carlos, in need of a guitarist at the time, presented an opportunity to start back on the path to making music.

And when Carlos was ready to quit music all together Mark introduced him to Eric Kuby who now commands the back beat in The Setup. Another introduction was made and Christopher Peifer, now bassist completed The Setup.

Collom, Kuby and Peifer had all played in bands before The Setup in different pairings but never in a band together.

The Setup now writes songs together each bring ideas and collaborating.

The Setup is a New York City band with a distinct sound. They have a stripped down energy without all the distortion. Thoughtful lyrics and catchy hooks pump their upbeat songs about apocalyptic love full of grooves that makes the room get up.

The Setup is;

Carlos Perla : Rhythm Guitar and Vocals
Mark Collum : Lead Guitar
Eric Kuby : Drummer
Chris Peifer : Bass Guitar and Harmonies
