Bio
Sharon B. Thomas’ ever broadening musical career has spanned over a decade as an accomplished tenor and soprano saxophonist. Some of her other influences were Dexter Gordon, Gene Ammons, Courtney Pine and a host of others.
Although Sharon did not attend college to study music it was always in her heart. After several attempts in the corporate world, Sharon decided to step out and pursue a career as a musician. Sharon's diverse musical talent has also added a "unique" and "incomparable" flavor to several upscale affairs in the Metropolitan D.C. area. She has performed with numerous local bands at various clubs, hotels, restaurants, festivals, convention centers, churches, etc.
Sharon has been invited to sit-in and "jam" with a variety of well-known bands up and down the East Coast, as well as perform with nationally established recording artists on TV. Her band, The Sharon Thomas Experience, has performed with and have shared the stage with numerous recording artists such as Ginuwine, Ralph Tresvant, Dawn Robinson of EnVogue, Parliament Funkadelic, Tony Terry, Brian McKnight, Ruben Studdard, and Teena Marie just to name a few. She has also performed at the historical Blues Alley, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC, the ArtScape Festival in Baltimore as well as several other outdoor festivals. She is an interactive performer always engaging her audience before, during and after performances.
Sharon is active in the community working with the homeless, senior citizens, and the mentally challenged. Sharon says “Bringing joy and happiness to others through my music is the most rewarding”.
Although she has recorded on several other artists CDs, there is an anticipation of Sharon recording a new CD in the summer of 2011. Until then, Sharon will continue to work the local, national and international circuits spreading her music and God-given talents.
