Bio

Moving at 163 beats-per-minute, The Sheens deliver raw, stomping new indie rock to the New York City music scene. Known for their high energy performances and catchy songs, The Sheens have grown their following the old-fashioned way: by showing their fans a good time and reminding this city of what real rock 'n' roll is supposed to feel like.

The Sheens first got together in the beginning of 2011. After a year of developing their core catalogue of songs and following the departure of their original drummer, Edwin Montalvo, the current lineup (Luke DeSiervo-guitar, Cat Sheen-guitar & lead  vocals, Juan Gallego-bass, Ryan Sanzari-drums) really took off in the fall of 2012. New songs and a renewed spirit prompted The Sheens to hook up with Producer Kevin McMahon (Titus Andronicus, Widowspeak, The Walkmen) to record six songs for their first official EP at Marcata Recording which they released in November, 2013.

For the EP, The Sheens recorded raw, honest, and energetic rock songs that were inspired by all time bands such as The Stooges, The Ramones, The Stones, The Pixies, T. Rex, Siouxsie and The Banshees, and relatively newer bands such as Radiohead, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Nevertheless, The Sheens' sound remains their own. Their EP, aptly called 163 EP (after the number of beats-per-minute they just can't shake), harks back to simpler times. The music is conveyed openly and truthfully to remind us that rock 'n' roll, itself, has always been liberatinga bare-faced exposure of every emotion and every imperfection. Incorporating elements of punk and soul into their stripped-down rock, the result is a twisting blend that would make The Ronettes and The Ramones proud.

The Sheens have played at Shea Stadium, Cameo Gallery, The Delancey, Arlenes Grocery, Sullivan Hall, Leftfield, Spike Hill, Matchless, and Fontanas. They have gathered up a loyal fan base that can be counted on to show
support. As their collective ambitions continue to grow, The Sheens'
mission remains simple: to write great songs, have fun, and perform live. Come join them.
