On each day, one of the acts playing somewhere before the headliners is the Sheridan Band. Fiddler and singer Jeff Sheridan and his wife, Heather Sheridan, a keyboard player and singer, live in St. Thomas. Mandolin and bodhran player Chris Sheridan, Jeff's brother and another singer, and guitarist Rob Pittaro, are both Londoners.
"The organizer Chris (Campbell of Campbell Event Management Ltd.) has used us for different events," Jeff Sheridan says of the band's place at the fest.
Formed for a family St. Patrick's Day appearance about three years ago, the Sheridan Band works every other week and shared the stage at the Western Fair with the legendary Great Big Sea.
The Sheridan clan and band, 16 in all, have just completed a Down East tour and visit. Their music was warmly received -- and the band loved the experience.
"Playing the music for them was a rush," Sheridan says. The Sheridan Band's repertoire runs all the way from I'se the Bye to Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl to Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues.
"It's mostly dancing music or singalong music. So it fit right in there," Sheridan says.

The Sheridan Band is a high-energy traditional Celtic folk group. The band consists of four family members who were often asked to play their music at various family and community events. As others quickly discovered, a party breaks out wherever this group performs. The requests to perform have continued to pour in from Northern Ontario right down into Michigan.
The Sheridan Band's music reflects the musical influences they had experienced growing up in an Irish-Canadian family. The traditional Celtic folk songs dominate their music throughout the evening. A subtle blend of sounds stemming from their contemporary rock influences weaves its way throughout their music creating the perfect ingredients for a foot-stomping good time
