“Running Wild” is a toe-tapping mix of traditional and original music performed live by The Sheridan Band. And you can tell from the audience’s reactions that they were having a rocking good time. There are 18 tracks, ranging from “The Irish Washerwoman” to the poignant “Lost at Sea.” Brothers Jeff and Chris Sheridan front the band, joined by Jeff’s wife Heather and “adopted” Sheridans Andy Reid and Rob Pittaro. They offer up a rousing mix of fiddle, guitar, penny-whistle and drum…to name a few of the instruments featured.
Original tracks like “Run Around With Me” show an understanding and synthesis of traditional Celtic music while offering a sound that is all their own. “Drunk in the Afternoon” was another original piece that would have been right at home in a medley with “Lanigan’s Ball.” “Far Atlantic Shore” builds from a slow haunting refrain to a heart-thumping pirate anthem and back again.
On the other hand, the traditional offerings lend a familiarity to the album that defy you not to sing along – or at least tap your foot. “Whiskey in the Jar” was particularly well done. The “Britches Full of Stitches/Sean Ryan” medley made it hard to sit still enough to type…
This was my first exposure to The Sheridan Band, but it will definitely not be the last. The more you listen to the album, the more nuances you discover. Highly recommended for lovers of Celtic music.

The Sheridan Band is a high-energy traditional Celtic folk group. The band consists of five family members who were often asked to play their music at various family and community events. As others quickly discovered, a party breaks out wherever this group performs. The requests to perform have continued to pour in from Northern Ontario right down into Michigan.
The Sheridan Band’s music reflects the musical influences they had experienced growing up in an Irish-Canadian family. The traditional Celtic folk songs dominate their music throughout the evening. A subtle blend of sounds stemming from their contemporary rock influences weaves its way throughout their music creating the perfect ingredients for a foot-stomping good time.
