The Shipyard

The Shipyard

 Gdynia, Pomeranian Voivodeship, POL

Polish band The Shipyard formed in The Tricity (Gdansk/Sopot/Gdynia) in 2011.
The Shipyard moves between classic cold wave alienation, a reverberating melancholy reminiscent of shoegaze, and heavier alt rock. Vocals channel the band's moody sound, as melodies soaked in pinching sadness yield to bursts of mad energy.

Piotr Pawlowski, bassist of the legendary Made in Poland and cornerstone of the project known as Heart & Soul (along with Rykarda Parasol), founded The Shipyard after moving to the Tri-City area. The band features drummer Michal Mlyniec, singer Rafal Jurewicz (Sound of Pixies), and guitarist Michal Miegon (Kiev Office, Karol Schwarz All Stars). Heavy, noisy, and catchy music fuses shoegaze, cold wave, and punk. The debut album, We Will Sea, has been released on August 31, 2012 (Nasiono Records). The second album "Water On Mars" was launched in Poland in April, 2014 and was well approved by audience and music journalists. The band won several music festivals in Poland and participated in prestigious Męskie Granie Tour in Poland.
