"Hey Press!"

Come to one of our shows already. We will rock your face off, promise! - The Shivering Fits

Discography

In 2007 we recorded a demo EP entitled "Cold Sweat," which has not been officially released. It contains 6 of our oldest tunes, none of which have ever seen the light of radio, and four of which are available on this website. Turn it up (we lost the loudness wars...) and settle in.

In the winter of '08, we will re-record portions of that EP and an additional 4 songs to create a full length LP record, yet to be named.

Bio

The Shivering Fits is a drum/guitar/vocal duo playing original, uptempo rock tunes. The band was borne of a shared desire to strip rock music down to it's pithy core and figure out what makes a good song good.

So Charles and Pat went back to basics, spending long, frustrating and exhilarating hours in a dingy rented studio, attempting to hone a sound that was original yet firmly rooted in ancient and recent classics, including Celtic folk melodies, classical theory, blues, jazz, marching band, and more modern musicians like Fugazi, Pavement, the Pixies, Radiohead, Built to Spill, Spoon, the White Stripes, the Zombies, Deerhoof, Brian Eno, the Talking Heads, Metallica, Les Savy Fav, Ulrich Schnauss, The Shins, The Thermals, Tapes 'n Tapes, Dance Band, The National, Bebe Gilberto, Guided by Voices, Sunny Day Real Estate and many, many others.

We emerged with enough songs for an album (coming early '09), mild tinnitus, and the ability to explore vast sonic and lyrical territories within the confines of an extremely minimalist set up. Our songs are tightly structured and we put on a highly invigorating live show.

We have played throughout the Twin Cities, in rural Minnesota and in Iowa in backyards, bars and basements. Before forming The Shivering Fits, both Charles and Patrick gained extensive stage experience in rock bands and various other musical incarnations.

Since there are only two of us and we do our own booking and promotions while working full time jobs, it's been tough getting any press coverage. In fact we have never been reviewed. Yet we soldier on. We believe in what we're doing, we believe we are a damn fine band, and every show gives the chance to turn a few more people on to it. We plan a full press blitz in early '09 with the release of our new LP. Stay tuned...
