The Shook Ones: Blending elements of surf, punk and funk, "Power chords for the powerless" is the rallying cry for this fiery female power trio.

Biography

The Shook Ones, based in New York City, is an indie-rock group whose sound travels from early Stones to the riot-girl punk of Bikini Kill. The trio, made up of 3 distinctly different members Pascale Jean-Louis (vocals, bass, guitar) from Bronx, NY, Maria Grazia De Luca (vocals, guitar) from Rome, Italy and Ann Nguyen (drums) from Pasadena, CA, formed about a year ago through the magic of Craigslist. The band made its debut performance @ 5Pointz in Queens and The Branded Saloon in Brooklyn during the Make Music New York Festival 2013. Blending elements of surf, punk and funk, "Power chords for the powerless" is the rallying cry for this fiery power trio.

Hollywood is Calling

Written By: Pascale Jean-Louis

HOLLYWOOD IS CALLING

100 cops at my door
Tell them to go away
Can’t wear no wire
Shut up! Got nothing more to say
I’m trapped inside with my gun
I’m climbing up the walls
Ready to die right this minute
Whose gonna watch me fall?

Saddle up the Escalade
We’re going to the disco
Ain’t got no cocaine
But I’ll show you a real good time

Hollywood is calling
Hollywood is calling
Got your finger on the trigger
Getting bigger in your mind
To you it looks like fun
To watch me come undone
You smile sweetly and you say
I’m not the hurtin’ kind
Hollywood is calling
Hollywood is calling
You smile sweetly and you say
I’m not the hurtin’ kind
Hollywood is calling
Hollywood is calling
Got your finger on the trigger
Getting bigger in your mind

Hollywood is calling
Hollywood is calling
Counting out your dollars
While you cut across the straight line

To you it looks like fun
To watch me come undone
You smile sweetly and you say
I’m not the hurtin’ kind

Gangster

Written By: Pascale Jean-Louis

GANGSTA!

I am the Yakuza / I’m with the mafia
Elect the government / We can start a war
I am a Latin King / Won’t you be my queen?
Let’s get together / Man, show them what for!

I , I, I, I / Oh, Oh, Oh! Oh-Oh-Oh!
I, I, I, I / Oh, Oh,Oh! Oh-Oh-Oh!

We can be the lords of chaos / We can start a war together
You and me make lots of money / Don’t you get your hands too bloody
Carving up ancient empires / This is my deepest desire
You and me, we’ll rule the world!

I am the Yakuza / I’m with the mafia
I’m Mr. Parliament / We can start a war
I’m scary like a Crip / I am dripped in Blood!
Annihilate them / shove ‘em out the door!

BRIDGE / GUITAR SOLO

I am the Yakuza / I’m with the mafia
I guess it doesn’t matter / We can start a war
I am a Latin King / Won’t you be my queen?
Let’s get together / Man, show them what for – HA!

We can be the lords of chaos / We can start a war together
You and me make lots of money / Don’t you get your hands too bloody
Carving up ancient empires / This is my deepest desire
You and me, we’ll rule the world!
You and me, we’ll rule the world!
You and me, we’ll rule the world!

Soulless Man

Written By: Pascale Jean-Louis

SOULLESS MAN

There’s a man on the corner
He’s standing alone
And the cops are saying “Hey, move it along!”
What’s your name? What’s your purpose? What’s your mission statement? What’s your alibi?
Get your coffee to go
Got to make it strong
Gonna need it for the long ride home

There’s a man on the corner
He’s standing alone
And the people are saying “Hey, leave him alone!”
What’s your name? What’s your business? Watch your reputation
It’s all on the line

Man, I’m sorry that I sold my soul
To several business men in the backroom
Yeah, I want it back but I don’t have the cash

There’s a man on the corner
He’s standing alone
And the cops are saying “Hey, move it along!”
What’s your name? What’s your purpose?
Watch your reputation- it’s all on the line

Man, I’m sorry that I sold my soul
To several businessmen in the back room
Yeah, I want it back
But I don’t have the clash
I gotta work for you
Sorry that I sold my soul
To several businessmen in the back room
Yeah, I want it back
But I don’t have the cash

This is America
We’re so oblivious
Home of the hopeless thinking that we’re free (3x)
