Music

The best kept secret in music

Press

The Side Project has released a very nice soft piano pop album. I would say it fits squarely in the AAA category alongside Natalie Merchant, Sheryl Crowe, Sarah McLachlan and the like.

Lead Singer, Susie Anderson even reminds me of McLachlan at times. Her voice is much deeper, and less flowery/more gutsy, but there's something about the phrasing that is similar. A beautiful voice, nonetheless.

The music is alternative pop that wanders into other genres such as trip-hop and maybe even a little jazz.

The songwriting is first class, both lyrically and melodically. The tunes will stay with you long after the last song plays.

I think this will be in my rotation for some time yet.

Stand out songs: "Hold On, Hang On", "Neurosis", "Interlude III" but really if you like one of their songs, you'll probably like them all. - Collected Sounds

Bio

Starting back in the summer of 2003 in Spokane, WA, The Side Project quickly began playing 4-5 times a week. Their captivating stage presence along with their laid back dispositions and creative song writing, have made them very popular throughout the NW. With 3 impressive CD releases, and over 300 shows played in just over 2 years, TSP has always been able to adapt effortlessly to many different creative environments, whether that be playing large musical theatres, music festivals or intimate lounges & coffee shops.

Upon leaving Spokane in late 2004 for the greener side of Washington, TSP met up with Seattlite and Grammy Award Winning guitar player Eric Tingstad (of Tingstad & Rumbel fame). Tingstad and his wife Carol soon jumped on board as manager and booking agent. Since that time TSP has been staying very busy playing consistently throughout the northwest, as well as writing and recording new material with Tingstad. (listen for Eric's guitar work on both "Tell Me When" and "Stand By" on their latest release "A Comfortable Struggle."
