"CD liner notes"

I have known Sidney Barnes since our days of working together on sessions at Chess Records and have always admired his vocal ability. I'm proud to say that he has certainly developed into a fine Jazz singer as this CD (Setting The Mood) so beautifully demonstrates.

"CD review"

Sidney Barnes is a name that will be unfamiliar to many of you. But he is a name that you should know. He has been a song writer,
producer, artist, for Chess Records,
Motown,P Funk, Denise Williams and more. As such he is a "person who was there" and connects together many of the unconnected dots of Black Music history. But prehaps hisgreatest claim to fame was as a member of the ground breaking late 60's Soul/Rock group Rotary Connection. The integrated group also featured the late/great Minnie Riperton and was at the time Chess Records answer to "the Summer Of Love". Fast forward to 2008 and we find Sidney in the rollof "Jazz Crooner" and it suites him just fine. Albums of Jazz standards seem to be a "dime a dozen" these days. So why should you buy this one? Quite simple, because you haven't heard a male voice quite like this since Billy Eckstine. Isn't that enough of a reason - Soul Patrol
