Bio

The Silver Tear Conspiracy was conceived by T.J. Hopkins in 05'. With Matthew Hurley on drums, the STC sound finally came together with the addition of Nick D and Corey Mayes on 6-string. It’s the perfect blend of rock n' roll sounds and passion that can't be found in the music of today. "The idea of our music is the transition of life from that age where we all feel like we know everything, but really we know nothing of whom we are or what we will be. We always learn from hindsight and we have or I have at least. I feel like these songs are our way of warning everyone saying "hey don’t do that shit we know the consequences and their harsh dude, just listen to us! We know man!" (laughing) Life is one messed up journey but all in all it’s like a great book or play that was poorly written by a twelve-year-old." T.J. Hopkins S.T.C. The story of each of the band members musical background is as diverse as they come. T.J. 24 years old, The lead singer and bassist came from no real music training and a strong desire to show the world that you can make music even though you have no training. He began to play bass at the age of 18, soon after he joined his first band and was taught jazz bass and took those tools he acquired and made his own writings. Upon the breakup of that band T.J. decided to take some time off and write for himself, thus the idea of The Silver Tear Conspiracy began. Matt Hurley, 19 years old, The drummer and backing vocalist’s training began at the subtle age of 11, learning music theory and basic rudimental drum training. His first drum kit was purchased soon after. He expanded his knowledge of music by participating in band class in middle school and high school. He used this knowledge to create a sound for drums not heard in music today. Matt has taken influences from such drum greats as Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, Buddy Rich, and Keith Moon just to name a few. “Growing up listening to so many different music styles and learning from all of them gave me the opportunity and ability to make an explosion of sound come from the drums, hell I didn’t even know I was capable of it, but somehow everyone says I very much am (laughs), I just thank God for giving me the talent to share music with the world.” -Matt Hurley STC. Nick Dickenson, 21 years of age began his musical journey picking up the guitar at 15. His influences come from a variety of punk, rockabilly, and surf music. Nick brings the realm of rhythm guitars to a new dimension combining all of these sounds with the beautiful sounds of his new found passion, indie rock. He began playing in various punk bands around the area before he was stricken with cancer at the age of 20. Everyone says good comes out of bad, and Nick is living proof of that. Having this terrible disease, he quit his previous band in search of recuperation. While recuperating, his previous band fell to the wayside, and Nick found himself without a purpose, and began searching for a new place to call home. At the same time The Silver Tear Conspiracy had just lost their previous guitar player to a new found love, his girlfriend. Then the band found Nick, and took him in as the new guitarist of The Silver Tear crew. Fully recovered, Nick is now enjoying his place in the band. Corey Mayes, 21 years old, Lead Guitarist of the band has came from a music background that stems from his father. In the 70's and 80's Corey’s father played in bands, inspiring Corey to pick up the guitar and play for himself. After some lessons in lead play, Corey was found by Nick and asked to join the band. This is Corey’s first band and we hope to make it his only. “He’s the best lead player I ever heard” T.J. Hopkins
