Bio

The Singing Sons of Abraham have a history spanning over four decades when the men of the Church of God and Saints of Christ began singing traditional gospel compositions that were mainstays within the African-American community. What distinguised the Singing Sons of Abraham from other singing groups at that time was their unique, acapella style inclusive of the four part harmony structure.

Early members of the Sons of Abraham included members who sang professionally with such groups as the Orioles, and the Flamingos. Influences at that time and even today include such greats as Sam Cook with the Highway QCs, the Williams Brothers, Mahalia Jackson, and Harvey and the Moonglows to name a few. That tradition continues today and can be experienced through their live performances that combine entertaining skits, synchronized choreography, and a mesmerizing stage presence.

Sons of Abraham members range in age from 19 to 70, and each member has lead singing capabilities which also makes this group even more of an attraction. The "Sons" love to travel and spread their positive message through their music but they act locally as well, through participation in community fundraising activities and by visiting hospitals, nursing homes and detention centers.

The group officially released their debut CD entitled, "Try Everyday" with the title song slated for release this fall and officially launched their CD release with a fiery, soul stirring concert at Coppin University October 16, 2010. The group has performed at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in the past and performs regularly at venues along the East Coast. Plans are underway to make a video and the group is eager to take their act on the road nationwide and worldwide, God willing.

The Singing Sons of Abraham also host and sponsor a 50s,60s,& 70s R&B Music Extravaganza each year and will be headlining the Eighth Annual 50s,60, & 70s R&B Extravaganza March 21 and 22, 2011 at Coppin University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Look for the Singing Sons of Abraham's sophomore CD in the near future as plans are underway to get back into the studio in 2011.
