"Alice Cooper at the Memorial Center"

[Cnt...] I knew nothing about The Sins. Their generic name made it tough to figure which of the multitude of bands called "The Sins" would be opening tonight. We were pleasantly surprised. The Montreal-based quintet was tight and put on a good show. The singer, Sindy, is a good looking girl, but her vocal chops are what kept me interested. The lead guitarist, Plear, was also a pleasure to listen to. The Sins play guitar driven hard rock with some catchy hooks. Trash picked up one of their demo CDs for me, and I'm rocking to it as I write this. [...]

"The Sins"

-- Cnt... - Olivier Robillard Laveaux

"Bits & Pieces"

Another talented drummer who played the Montreal Drum Fest "Rising Star" Showcase, Marc-André Gilbert, was taught by Marc Bonneau at the Collège d'Alma, and by Montreal greats Pierre Hébert & Paul Brochu.

Armed with a great sense of finesse, Marc-André then set out to play important gigs, such as the Harley Show with percussionnist Luc Boivin. He also toured and recorded with many artists. Recently, Marc-André played with his band "THE SINS" as the warm-up band for Alice Cooper in Thunder Bay.

"THE SINS @ LION D'OR, THURSDAY SEPT. 14TH, 2006"

Sex, Drugs, and Rock n' Roll! That's the kind of energy you can always expect wherever you catch Montreal's own The Sins perform. Tonight, it was for the Max et Gigi Reçoivent variety show at Le Lion D'Or.

Armed with a plutonium packed female lead singer, Sindy, and four rock solid musicians (Plear: lead guitar, Simon B: rhythm guitar, "Boorkie": bass, Marc Gilbert: drums), The Sins detonate the initially quiet posh crowd sitting around this cabaret-style event into a screaming mayhem. Just another event to prove that these guys have the stage presence to preach Rock to whomever they encounter.

"Giving it all to your audience" is no surprise for The Sins as they will continue to open for Alice Cooper in October on the rest of his Canadian tour. Sorry to all you "creative musical neo-hippies" out there, it takes more than your broken bongos and sweatrags to head up this kind of gig, and The Sins deliver.

Keep your eyes peeled boys and girls as they are working heavily on releasing their first full length album in 2007. They got my two horns up \m/ \m/ !

Bio

The Sins; a "baby-band". These words following our name might lead you to believe that we are inexperienced or that our cherries haven't been popped. Au contraire mon frère.

The Sins consist of a mesmerizing, rooted, sexy, stage-crazed, full-throttle-attitude lead singer – a 1st place guitar dualist*, a 1st place drumming soldier** & a groove-master bassist. As each member of our band has studied music for many years, we can proudly use the words technical, creative, expressive, determined and able to describe our musical abilities.

We are a Montreal-based act that has been rocking together for the past two years. In this city’s hot-box music scene, we have had the privilege of working alongside great producers such as; Tean Schultz (Spackle), Graeme Humphrey (Simple Plan), Albert Chambers (David Usher, SKY), etc… After having completed our goal of recording our first professional demo, which led us to New York City, we met with Major Record Label A&Rs and showcased our original songs acoustically. (A&Rs such as; David Boxenbaum (Octone), Peter Malkin (Epic), Jason Jordan (Hollywood), Matt Pinfield (Columbia), Nick Casseneli (Columbia), Greg Nadel (Lava/Atlantic), etc…

We’ve had amazing show opportunities in the last year. (Joined “Jonas” on tour, dates with Alice Cooper, dates on the “Vans Warped Tour”, first showcase spot at Canadian Music Week. We also are in collaboration with GIBSON being part of the Gibson Family.)

We’ve also, recently won Montreal’s Rock Open Band Slam and have performed on Musique Plus (equivalent of MTV, Quebec, Canada) on the 13th of April for the Rock Open Provincial Finals.

Back in Montreal, we constantly work our asses off; promoting, rehearsing & playing the music we love. (Preparing our Major Record Label showcases.)

In case you don’t find us in rocking-a-crowd-mode, we are rocking our surroundings at local party venues.
