Bio

Thomas Trapp and Joe Mack lived together in early 2005 and quickly realized the other for their musical abilities; Thomas as a flat-picking monster and Joe's impeccable rhythm and tell-tale voice. The duo toured around Oklahoma and the mid-west working with folks like Shanti Groove, PoDank, Jeff and Vida and Blueground Undergrass at festivals and venues through the year. But they lent their ears to other folks at the festivals, like George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Garaj Mahal, Hot Tuna, The Ills, and the Sugarfree Allstars, and took from those musical experiences a depth of knowledge that's applied to their shows today.
Then came Kabe Cornell, an upright bassist that earned his chops playing with the ultra-fast psychograss string band PoDank. Though The Skillbillies don't stay in 5th gear, Cornell certainly has found his niche in their groove.
Though they are a young band in some terms, each members' history is thick with accomplishments and achievements, which probably explains why these three can break into a wide open Phish/Flecktones inspired jam and can quickly return to the earthiest elements of string band picking and grinning with a tight, traditional bluegrass tune. Dynamics, enjoyability, and top-notch musicianship are a part of every Skillbilly show, and as the word continues to spread, you will see this dynamic Oklahoma trio pop-up at festivals and venues across the land, so watch your chube.
