Bio

"The Skints are fast becoming the most talked about band in the UK reggae/ska underground. Formed as 4 friends at their east London comprehensive school in 2007, their relentless touring (350 shows over 2009 & 2010) has seen them on the road with the likes of Sublime with Rome, Reel Big Fish, Bedouin Soundclash, The Slackers and The King Blues to name but a few. After releasing their first EP on Do The Dog Music, The Skints were taken on by Hidden Talent Booking, which saw the band on the road non-stop for 2 years alongside many international ska heavyweights as well as debut appearances at Bestival, Rebellion, Slam Dunk and Mighty Sounds (Czech Republic) festivals. Their debut album “Live. Breathe. Build. Believe.”(Nov 2009) received a phenomenal grassroots response, Punktastic.com saying, “it doesn’t so much live up to the hype as completely obliterate it”. The incredible reception of the album led to regular airplay from BBC Radio 1’s Mike Davies who invited the band to Maida Vale studios to record a much-coveted live session for his show, as well as newfound attention from magazines such as Kerrang and Big Cheese. 2010 saw The Skints define themselves as one of the British punk rock scene’s premier headlining artists, selling out London’s Barfly, Borderline, Gaff and Camden Underworld consecutively. A summer of festivals (including a jaw-dropping set at Reading & Leeds) saw The Skints join The Agency Group to finish their most successful year yet. 2011 has seen East London’s finest across Europe with Reel Big Fish and currently in the studio with renowned reggae/dub/pop producer Prince Fatty (Lily Allen/Gregory Isaacs/Sugar Hill Gang), numerous festival appearances, as well as a support tour with Gym Class heroes. Instead of looking for ‘traditional’ label backing, The Skints started a campaign through Pledge Music in which fans could financially contribute towards the recording of their new album in return for a number of different exclusive rewards. Although they were given 90 days in which to raise the money needed to record the album, 100% of funds were reached in just 11. In the build up to what is arguably the most anticipated album in British reggae, The Skints are showing no signs of slowing up or backing down to anyone…"
