Santa Ana Songwriter Releases Lo-Fi Gem

The Sky Catching Fire - Santa Ana
Local songwriter Thomas Monroe decided to get himself Protools and a Laptop for Christmas of 2008. 2 months later he put out The Sky Catching Fire - Santa Ana, a 10 song lo-fi gem that reflects life in a city of art, tramps, open mics, carjackings, gang shootings, stabbings, junkies, jailhouses, and competing mafias. The water tower by his house says "Downtown Orange County". But it's not quite Disneyland.

The lyrics are penetrating, ranging from insightful to melancholy. On "Stars Are Papercuts", Monroe sings:
"I think stars are papercuts on the hands of God in his lonely hour, mailing letters to himself". Other highlights are "Three Daisies", "The Out", and "Golden".

To make this release a classic, I would just like to see it in vinyl.

The Sky Catching Fire - Santa Ana is available on iTunes.
