"You don't know the Soft Bombs? Change that."

The quartet from California performed at the Sunset on Saturday night with all the groovy mood lighting you’d hope for from a band with an amazing, bewitching, trippy ’60s sound. I enjoyed every bit of their set. I honestly wish this band lived in Seattle because they’d go over so well here. But enough about relocating entire bands. The Soft Bombs might be placed in that dream rock genre, but I’m going to put them in a brainwave genre. Their songs move along in all those small and large synapses, pleasurably rearranging them all. “Late Love” completely hit the spot. Get their debut, The Soft Bombs, and prepare yourself for their second release, which they’re working on right now.”

2010 LP - The Soft Bombs (self titled album)
2012 LP - ? (to be released in 2012)

Described as an original mix of 60’s psychedelic, 70’s stoner rock and 90’s Brit Pop/Shoegaze, The Soft Bombs formed a little over a year ago when, Michael Padilla, guitar and lead vocals, wrote and recorded some songs that were planned for a solo album. He then met bass wizard John Lee Simpson, and together they developed a beat-driven psychedelic rock sound.

After the release of the self titled debut album in spring of 2010, the band toured from the west coast to NYC playing to enthusiastic audiences. In March 2011, the band discovered a solid drummer in Ben Bodine who would become The Soft Bombs official drummer. Using pre-recorded keyboards for their sound since the beginning, the band kept it's eye out for a keyboardist. In August of 2011 the band honed in on keyboardist R H Brodie to complete the band as it is today.

Currently The Soft Bombs are working on their second album at The Soundport Recording Studio in California and are gigging the west coast in support of their debut album as well as their forthcoming release.
