Bio

Formed in the spring of 2011, The Solid Suns began as a power-duo made up of Brian Keen on drums and Jon Gamboa on guitar and vocals. Drawing from an extensive list of influences, Gamboa blends soul, blues, and funk together seamlessly under the umbrella of rock music. Keen, coming from a musical family, applies his punk rock influences to deliver high-energy, explosive drums. After a few months of writing and playing shows, the band was rounded out by bassist Jim Campbell. Years of experience have made his soulful and intricate bass lines the anchor that ties Gamboa's raging guitar and Keen's thunderous drums together.
The Solid Suns continued to play several shows a month at almost every live music venue in the Las Vegas area. This gave them the opportunity develop their stage presence and distinctive sound. They began making a name for themselves and gained a following in the local music scene. In early 2012, they entered the Hard Rock Rising global battle of the bands and performed in the semi-finals against 11 others. The Solid Suns won the Hard Rock Rising 2012 Las Vegas Finals on March 29th and went on to represent their city in the global competition.
Using the money they made from shows and selling merchandise, they decided to self-finance and record an album. "Bobby Pins and Needles" was recorded in two days at The Tone Factory studios. It was released in April 2012 onto iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Zune, and in local stores. The Solid Suns continue to perform, promoting their album and debuting new songs regularly, while pursuing label representation and touring.

"I believe in innovation from limitation. We're creating raw and tangible sound in an effort to present music in its purist form." - Jon Gamboa
