"Some Kind of Aid / Rise and Fall" - Double A Side CD single.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Melbourne band The Solomons formed in late 2007, and have since added Aaron Ronaldson and Cameron Hicks to original members Doug Hind, Victor Finkel, and Cass Allan. They are already stalwarts of their local music scene, having graced the stage at some of their cities best known venues such as The Hifi, Billboard, The Espy, Ding Dong, The Curtin, The Toff, The Evelyn, and The Tote. In that time their demos have received plays on 3RRR, PBS, and SYN in Melbourne, as well as FBi in Sydney.

After just this year supporting the likes of British India, Gun Street Girls, and Oh Mercy, The Solomons are now returning to the live stage to promote their forthcoming Some Kind Of Aid / Rise And Fall double A-Side.

Recorded by Craig Harnath (Franz Ferdinand, Jet, Dallas Crane) at his Hothouse Studio with Finn Keane, and mastered by Tony “Jack The Bear” Mantz (Nick Cave, Silverchair, You Am I) it is the first taste of their debut EP due late this year.

It’s a record that very nearly depicts The Solomons as two bands under one name. Some Kind Of Aid is a slice of rhythm and guitar fused garage by that mid to late 60s group who once contained members of the Small Faces, were guest fronted by Merry Clayton, and famously covered by The Who.

Its flip side Rise And Fall is the dreamy echo of The Stone Roses meeting Ride at a rehearsal studio on a hazy Spring afternoon, finally awaking the nearby streets from the ten year long hangover that was the bad 80s. There was a good 80s too, but none of us could find out what it was doing the night before.

Already receiving extensive airplay on community radio across the country, Some Kind Of Aid / Rise And Fall will be released on CD at its launch on August 15 at The Curtin Bandroom, Carlton, Melbourne. It will also be available worldwide on itunes and amazon-mp3 from August 1.
