The Solos Unit formed in 2003 as a group that grew out of an open mic session started by guitarist Joe Hundermark. The group quickly outgrew it's stage at the Morning Dew Coffee house and established one the longest running and most succesful weekly sessions in North Carolina. The monday night session at the Rubber Soul never fails to pack out and has seen a wide variety of guest artists including the likes of bassist Oteil Burbridge, Bjorkestra vocalist Becca Stevens, and Last Call with Carson Daly Drummer Iajhi Hampden. During the last few years of it's existence the solos unit has had the honor of opening for The Roots, De La Soul, Ghostface Killa, Saul Williams, and the Wu-tang Clan just to name a few.
