The day started off with the Strong vocals provided by powerhouse Marisa Sorrentino backed by a funky groove laid by her five piece Somerton Suitcase. In 2011 The Somerton Suitcase was born; blending loved
musical genres with powerful vocals, fun lyrics, roaring solos, and
improvisation. Think the sound of soul and rock mixed with funk and
folk, but not limited to. Somerton is the main project of vocal
powerhouse Marisa Sorrentino, versatile guitarist "Captain" James Murray, vocalist/guitarist Ed Demirer, drummer John Rivera,
and a rotating cast of auxiliary musicians (bass/horns/keys). The band,
originally formed in college out of a mutual love of playing music,
stays strong out of a bond of friendship and musical synergy. With
songwriting not falling on one single person, they are constantly able
to evolve their original sound, while staying true to their roots. As a
live band, Somerton is able to give both an electric and acoustic twist
on their music. Acoustic shows offer an intimate setting with rotating
folk instruments and percussion, while their electric shows are high
energy, segueing original tunes into extended jams and unique twists on
