Bio

My name is James Diffenderfer and I love making music.

It all began when I was a kid. I remember my mom teaching me the basics on piano when I was in first grade. Shortly after we began, she handed me over to a nearby teacher who would end up teaching me until I graduated high school. During middle school, I picked up an electric guitar for the first time at the music store in my home town. The metallic blue shimmer of that Ibanez Gio was more than enough to catch my eye. I guess the piano wasn’t enough anymore and I was driven to learn how to play the guitar. I spent a lot of hot summer days mowing lawns but I was able to save up my money and, sure enough, I bought that very same electric guitar. After graduating high school, I decided to go to college at Georgia Southern University. During my time at Southern I took some more piano lessons, spent time developing my guitar style, and began learning how to play the drums. One day, in March of 2010, I sat down to practice the guitar and began to write a song. It wasn’t a song that I wrote with the thought in mind that people would hear it. The melody just caught my ear and I felt compelled to finish it. I spent some time developing the song more and recorded a rough demo of it in May of 2010. That song, today, is known as “Depths”. I set a goal that summer to write and record a ten song CD. This was not a menial task since I was writing and recording all of the instruments. After much hard work, this April, I will be releasing my first record titled "All Things New."
