Over 30 years experience as a Singer, Entertainer, Performer and Choir Director. A unique array of music and vocal style, basic first tenor, with a vocal range from Bass through Soprano. SFC Retired, U.S. Army, 22 years of service from: 04/01/77-04/30/1999 Currently employed with the Social Security Administration, Kansas City, MO. Performer, singer, director, writer and recording artist. Born April 6, 1957 to James and Shirley Gant, of Aliquippa, PA. Music interest began as early as age 12 as a way to cope with the tough streets of Aliquippa, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. Performed with numerous bands, choirs and male vocal groups from Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Germany, Texas, Korea, Kansas City, Mo and Kansas City, KS. A current member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Leavenworth, KS. Co-director and member of the Adult Choir, director of the Youth Choir, director and member of The Gospelairs. Currently the director of the Social Security Administration Chorus, Kansas City, MO. Performed in several musicals plays such as, "Big River, the Adventures of Huckleberry Flinn", in Abilene, TX. Played the role as James The Lesser for several years in the play, “The Living Last Supper”, Bethel A.M.E Church, Leavenworth, KS. Played the role of Deacon Thompson in the hit play "The Church Meeting", put on by Arts In Motion, Leavenworth, KS, June 2005. Co-wrote and recorded the self titled album “The Song Bird, Robin E. Gant, “Mind Blowing Superstar”, words by John Baynham, music by Steven Jackson. Currently recorded, wrote, co-wrote and provided background vocals on the gospel CD titled, “You Don’t Have To Leave Here The Same”, words, music and background vocals by Ronald Coaxum. Music interests includes: Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Classics, Old Standards, Originals, and Country. Favorite Artist includes. Luther Vandross, Lou Rawls, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Gregory Hines, Gerald Levert, John P. Kee and Fred Hammond, just to name a few. The CD in titled “You Don’t Have To Leave Here The Same” is dedicated to the life and memory of my Big Brother Victor J. Gant (Dap), who passed away suddenly on November 17, 2006, 5 days before his 51st birthday. Victor was preparing to move from Pittsburgh, PA to Leavenworth, Kansas to join my mother and me in December 2006. The 13th song on the CD “He Keeps On Blessing Me” was sung by Victor on November 12, 2006, with The Christian Travelers, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, McKeesport, PA, Rev Earlene Coleman, Pastor. I am very proud of this project, especially the back cover pictures of Victor and me, in tribute to him.
