Western Harbour Blue (2010) / Despotz Records

The Sonnets was after only two singles acclaimed by Vogue Italia and Dazed & Confused magazine for their 80’s soul pop in the footsteps of bands such as The Style Council and Aztec Camera.

Italian Vogue described the Swedish pop group, together with The Drums and Hurts, as the band that best manages to update the legacy of the late British 80's at the moment.

»To listen to the first single »Sebastian Said« is like stepping into the »Back to the Future«-car and landing in 1988 and the pool where Prefab Sprout sang »The King of Rock'n'Roll« , Vogue Italia wrote.

Dazed and Confused magazine also discovered the Swedes. »The Sonnets is more than just deck shoes, cardigans and Ray Ban sunglasses. Let the five-piece drown you with with their melodic sound as the bass comes at you like crashing waves and the synth tickles your barefoot feet«, the British magazine wrote.

Some of the world’s most important music and fashion blogs paid attention to The Sonnets’ collaboration with the Swedish boutique Très Bien shop, which resulted in »SHORT STORY/Morning run«, a video to »Sebastian Said« (Montauk remix).

The debut album »Western Harbour Blue« (Despotz Records) was out in Europe in September/October 2010 to great reviews. The album was followed by a European tour in January/February 2011.

At the moment the band is working on their second album set for release early 2012. But before that a new single will be out in late summertime and a second European tour is planned for September/October this year.
