Bio

From the imaginary intersection of a Coney Island side street and a Carolina dirt road come songs of longing, loneliness, and loss -- as well as acceptance, courage, and renewal.  With a reputation for literary craftsmanship and soulful performances, The Sorely Missed present fragile ruminations on relationships and tough examinations of personal responsibility, distilled into a rootsy blend of traditional folk, urban Americana and literate singer-songwriter music. The songs chart the tensions of the human experience: hope and heartache, resignation and celebration, the momentum of change and the pull of the past. The band's interplay of Americana elements captures "moments of emotion" and writes them large, projecting interior exploration as mythic landscape -- an alternative heartland where "fences set you free."
