Bio

Whether you'll be hiring them, desiring them or just admiring them, The Soular System wants to quench the thirst you have for exciting new music.

Bringing an ear for consummate musicianship and an eye for provocative lyrics, The Soular System successfully attempts to combine the songwriting ideals of yesterday with the vogue design of tomorrow, while maintaining a variety of styles embedded in Funk.

Sometimes political, sometimes spiritual, sometimes sexed to the nth degree, Rev. Desmond D'Angelo's "eclectrospective" lyrics stretch around the colorfast canvas of sound painted by Ral's bass strokes, Mike Maloney's guitar spray and Jes Bradley's drum splatters. The music is then adorned with percussive keyboard melodies sculpted from the ivory of Danny Bedrosian and framed with the finest brass of Sir Rothenberg, Pedro Pizarro and the Damn Diz.

The Soular System is currently in the studio finishing up their new album, the long-awaited follow-up to their 1999 debut 10 Lbs. Of Funk (In A 5 Lb. Bag), of which they have sold over 1000 copies with no outside distribution; in fact, most were sold at shows. In addition to featuring Soular System and P-Funk keyboard player Danny Bedrosian, P-Funks Cordell Boogie Mosson also laid some groove on the new record. It is expected to be released around June 2006.

Over the years, the band has shared the bill with lots of great acts, including Fishbone and Digital Underground on several occasions, as well as Government Mule, De La Soul, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Electric Six, Karl Densons Tiny Universe, and a slew of others, in and all around the Southeast. Indeed, theres rarely a style with which the band dont fit. In fact, after playing shows with Fishbone, bassist and founding member Norwood Fisher asked the guys if he could distribute their latest album on his own personal Nuttscator 5 Records label, alongside Weapon of Choice, Trulio Disgracias, and, of course, Fishbone themselves.

Once you get past the futile attempts of classifying the music, you're introduced to the most eclectic and electrifying stage shows in recent years' memories. The looks, the moves, and the outright intensity of the party that The Soular System throws with you will make you wish you could keep them in your pocket when they're done.
