Bio
The SOULutions (Reggae Band) got together in April 2005 as students at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland where they became an instant hit. They have performed for community events such as the Takoma Park Street Festival, Cutting Music Festival, the U-turn in Washington DC, MC Arts Institutes World Arts Festival, film for MCTV, recordings for Okenti, and MC Records as well as Montgomery College 40th Anniversary celebration. Their music has an alternative feel based on Reggae and Blues elements. The music is very organic and its definitely for all listeners. Its rhythmic back beats on guitar, smooth grove on bass, powerful melodic solos on electric guitar, a classical yet Celtic feel from the violin, and world rhythms on percussion energize and inspire listeners. Band leader Jer Swaby says the lyrics come from a divine inspiration. Music is about the people. I am basically being a speaker for contemporary social issues, putting it in a form that one can easily understand. Jer continues to write about love, crime, religion, colonialism, race, political agendas, moral ethics, and universal philosophy. Jer also does poetry, plus collaborations with people in the Dancehall community, and hip hop community as well.
