The Souvenirs

The Souvenirs

BandRockPop

Rock/pop with tinges of blues, country and folk. Originals and covers. Two female leads trade vocals with great melodies and harmonies.

Biography

Formed in 2004, the five-piece Souvenirs include Marla Gal, Lisa Bowker, Frank Spoerer, Fred Urdiales, and Dan Dwyer (Bruce Wong is currently on hiatus). The band spent most of 2006 working with producer/engineer Blaise Barton (Bob Dylan, Liz Phair, Katie Todd Band), putting the finishing touches on their inaugural, self-titled CD.

Although they can get a little funky and even a little country, the Souvenirs tend to stick to lush harmonics, catchy melodies, and lyrics with a slight sense of humor. The band brings together a wide range of influences to make delicious pop/rock, from classic rock to power pop to blues to folk, including, The Pretenders, The Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, Lisa Loeb, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Koko Taylor, Patti Smith, etc.

Most recently, Lisa Bowker joined the band, and Bruce Wong (vocals, lead guitar) went on temporary hiatus. Lisa will be featured on the newest CD, and we'll soon have new promo pictures that include Lisa with the band.

Feelin' the Fall

Written By: Marla Gal

Now you left me
I can't come to leave you
I can't see that it's done and through

Now you know me
Say you don't wanna stay
My love it seems was just in your way

Was there any gain?
Did we love at all?
I'd run from the pain
But right now I'm just feelin' the fall
Now I'm feelin' the fall

Now you hurt me
I don't know what to say
I can't make you want another single day

Was there any gain?
Did we love at all?
I'd run from the pain
But right now I'm just feelin' the fall
Now I'm feelin' the fall

Hiding Your Heart

Written By: Marla Gal/Lisa Bowker

Lately when I see your face I know it's true
Deep inside there's something going on with you
Tell what you need from me, my friend
I hate to think that this could be the end

Hiding your heart doesn't get you anywhere
Hiding your heart - you can't see that I care
When I see your pain it scares me so
That doesn't mean I don't wanna know

Won't you see if you can find a way to trust
Don't you know that this just might turn dangerous
Tell me your strong
Maybe I've been wrong

But you've been hiding your heart - doesn't get you anywhere
Hiding your heart - you can't see that I care
When I see your pain it scares me so
That doesn't mean I don't want to know

I know it's hard to let me in
Sometimes it's hard just to begin
I see you stop before you say
How you've been hiding you away

Hiding your heart doesn't get you anywhere
Hiding your heart - you can't see that I care
When I see your pain it scares me so
That doesn't mean I don't wanna know

Hiding your heart - oh
Hiding your heart - oh
Hiding your heart - oh

Last Mystery

Written By: Marla Gal

I wanted to hold you until you screamed - screamed uncle
I wanted to own the title but you wouldn't sign the deed

I wanted to find you lost, and cage and fatten you
I wanted to be your paycheck, but I had to know the cost
How I wrung your love away
Held on tighter every day
Couldn't wait to hear you say
You loved me

You were the last mystery
I had to see the final page
Impatient, no wait for history
For love to come of age

I wanted to know your deep secrets, and tell the whole world
I wanted to get under your skin, and play on your weakness
How I tried to be in charge
Wouldn't have your love at large
Kept you close did not get far
In your heart

You were the last mystery
I had to see the final page
Impatient, no wait for history
For love to come of age

Rather know when it will end
Rather know when it will end
Rather know when it will end
Starting now

You were the last mystery
I had to see the final page
Impatient, no wait for history
For love to come of age

Good Girls

Written By: Marla Gal

When I was young I was Daddy's little girl
Had big dreams of taking on the world
What I loved was playing with the boys
Mom always said I was making too much noise

As I got old people teased when me when I'd play
Said I'd have to be like other girls some day
Good girls are neat, mannered and like fashion
That doesn't mean I will have to cool the passion because

Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Have it both ways
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Virtue stays

People say it's a girl who will get hurt
Who loves a guy who lives in his undershirt
It's a secret that she's living through his world
So on the outside she can seem a real good girl because

Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Have it both ways
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Virtue stays

Is is weird that I wanna paint my toes just before a really big rock show?
And when the band is sitting getting high then I know I will need an alibi, and it's

Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Have it both ways
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Good girls like bad boys
Virtue stays
