The Space Merchants

The Space Merchants

BandRockClassic Rock

Psychedelic-Kraut-Boogie. Stoner Rock meets Country. Neil Young and Crazy Horse in a shootout with Spiritualized in Ennio Morricone's back yard. People have compared us to Black Mountain, said we sound like we belong on the soundtrack to True Blood or a David Lynch film. Also: Groovy.

Biography

The Space Merchants are interstellar travelers whose psychedelic imagination knows no bounds. Like the Universe itself their music is vast and impressive. Think Spacemen 3, Lungfish, The Black Angels, Black Mountain. Pulsing like a quasar, drummer Carter Logan and bassist Aileen Brophy provide the molten core around which expansive layers of male and female vocals, the blistering guitar of Michael Guggino and the hypnotic keyboard of Ani Monteleone swirl in a melodic synthesis that in turns evokes a windswept prairie, a Hawkwindian black hole and a boogie band in the back room at the edge of the Earth.

Lyrics

1000 years of boredom

Written By: Michael Guggino

One thousand years of boredom
Culminates today
My fear it is not with me
It up and ran away
Gaze out upon the starlight
Its laughter echoes on
The sun will come again
Might not come again
One million years of anger
The fires rage today
Smoke black, unforgiving
Where sunlight meets the sea
I wish we could forgive them
But I know they'll never see
The sun will come again
Might not come again

Reavers

Written By: Michael Guggino

Its been fifteen years since I started my route
I know what they'll be talking about
When I see trouble I don't pay it no mind
I went to the edge and I lost my mind
I stared out at it all
Now lock me up, take me away
It seems like your dark matter sets me free

Servants of Twilight

Written By: Michael Guggino

I clench my teeth I know
The world it ain't got long
I forgot all I knew
I stare at the setting sun
My birth was not my choice
In fact it was a folly
I walk on every day
I walk with you in twilight

Twilight, in twilight
In darkness
In darkness
In darkness
I look to the setting sun

I clench my teeth I taste
The ash left of the planet
I forgot all I knew
Burned up by the setting sun
My birth was not my choice
In fact it was a folly
I walk on every day
I walk with you in twilight

Twilight, in twilight
In darkness
In darkness
In darkness
I look to the setting sun

Where's the rest of life?

Written By: Michael Guggino

Said all my prayers in the bedroom
try to sleep real well at night
I been to the stars and the planets
you think it keeps me warm at night
Space is real cold and the vacuum there
sure to take your breath away
When I'm home I think about it sometimes
Yeah it really takes me away
Where's the rest of life?

I'm comin down baby yeah I hit the planet side
I'm comin down fast and all I see is parachute white
