Bio
Heavy gigging over the past 12 months has seen The Sparrows play to packed out venues up the East Coast of Australia, snaring spots at highly prestigious events such as the East Coast Blues and Roots and Apollo Bay Festivals and releasing their debut EP which has earned them airtime on the likes of Triple J, Nova and countless regional stations across Australia. The Sparrows are a true ‘rock n roll’ band who aren't afraid to show their roots, often being likened to blues influenced rock bands stemming from the 60s and 70s such as Humble Pie, The Rolling Stones, The Faces and Free. 2006 saw The Sparrows open for INXS in both Sydney and Melbourne, support Jimmy Barnes around Victoria, as well as travel to San Francisco to begin work with Producer Jeff Saltzman (The Killers) on their upcoming debut album.
Melbourne has a history of producing big name bands, The Sparrows may well be the next one to follow. The Sparrows have garnered and maintained a strong indie pub following and with their hard hitting old fashioned rock and roll groove, catchy hooks and bluesy sex appeal, The Sparrows always put on a mesmerising live performance.
The Sparrows are poster boys in waiting for our new wave of classic indie rock.
