""TheSpeaks have had a year that local bands only dream about!”"

"I came across The Speaks unexpectedly and I was blown away by the band’s music. They have the unique ability to make all their songs sound like an anthem that every listener can connect to…they sound like what rock music should sound like." - Greg Roche, Dc101 On air personality

"Local Band Ready For Big things"

“Every one of their songs is radio-ready, and we easily identified several songs that were ‘hits waiting to happen.’ The Speaks are destined for HUGE things…it’s simply a matter of time.” - DCnrg Entertainment

"Artists International Independant Radio 1"

The Speaks are a brilliant example of just why I am a DJ/streamer for www.aiir.net.
Our sole purpose is to play and get heard & known, Independent Artists. I hear so much good music/talented artists that I feel so blessed!
Talk about sweat all their blood, guts and tears! These boys do it with every note, every word,
every song! They are absolutely fantastic! When I heard my first ever The Speaks song (Life's A
Joke) I was almost floored by the sheer power of it, the lyrics were part of that, with of course
the vocals and the extremely talented musicianship of this wonderful band! Their music, all of it,
never fails to amaze me. How they cannot be known worldwide (apart from to us, the fortunate
ones, who follow them every step of the way in which ever way we can, totally devoted) is a crime
but I know, I feel, deep down inside me, that someday, EVERYONE will be priviliged enough to have
come to hear, know, like and respect The Speaks, for what they are and all they give!
I for one, have a truly richer life now that I know this awesome band!
Thankyou, The Speaks & keep on doing it! Kudos!

The Speaks:
What a band ! I remember listening to "Lifes A Joke" and thinking "Wow!! This band is good!!". The vocals are strong, the songs are melodic but pack punch, and the reaction from listners on
www.filetopialive.com was amazing. Never before had I received so much mail about any one band I had featured.

""....artists that should be on your radar, calendar and CD player.""

It's been a killer couple of months for The Speaks, capped off by their victory on Oct. 3 in the DC101 Last Band Standing competition which earned them an opening slot at the DC101 Chili Cookoff on Sat., Oct. 16. One of the area's best and most consistent rock acts, The Speaks recently headed out west for an A&R showcase at the world-famous Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles—not something that happens every day for bands from the D.C. area. There's been no slowing down since the 2003 release of their independent recording, Life's a Joke, which has been in regular rotation on XM Satellite radio and DC101's Local Lix. The band's anthemic tunes and sheer energy have earned them a rabid fanbase that packs the house wherever they go. It's been a long time since I've seen a rock band draw as well as The Speaks—they're definitely headed for bigger things.

"One of DC's Best Bands"

"In the age of shoe gazers and too cool of the room alt. bands, its refreshing to see a band that brings the songs you hear recorded to a higher level in performance. The Speaks are the true sense of a what a band is suppopsed to be....different characters all assembled by a common music thread and that thread has one hell of a groove. DC 101 loves the Speaks!" -- Joe Bevilacqua, Program Director DC 101

"Song Reviews"

"TheSpeaks give us commanding rock with a grunge edge. "Solitary" has all the power of Pearl Jam, but without the whining"

She Said- "Multiple explosions of sound and raspy vocals are a winning combination for TheSpeaks. You'll be hitting replay on this one"-- Washington Post - The Washington Post

Bio

From winning every major music competition they’ve entered, to rocking crowds of 25,000+ people, to gaining major support from DC101 (one of the most influential radio stations in the country) – The Speaks are easily shaping up to be one of the most exciting, talked about rock bands to hit the music scene in years.

If you had to try and characterize these rockstars-in-training -- take the explosive live stage show of Velvet Revolver and Motley Crue, add the eternal rock/anthemic appeal of Pearl Jam, and throw in the raw and emotional intensity of the Foo Fighters for good measure. In a changing new world where music seems to be erasing any existing racial boundaries, The Speaks -- whose members are as diverse as the bands they have shared stages with– are poised to further prove that music is, indeed, the one true “universal language.” Opening for the likes of 311, Chevelle and Ted Nugent, The Speaks have proven that their music is truly without bounds!

A college favorite -- The Speaks are opening people’s minds and broaden people’s horizons with their driving, emotion-filled music in a unique, unprecedented package. The Speaks are the next stage in musical evolution! Industry people and numerous fans are saying they are the next big thing! Find out why…
