The Spectral FOlk

Sibling rivalry, blues infused rock and roll and all that jazz. That's the Spectral FOlk. We are from Chicago and our blues is urban; Chicago electric blues. We try to sound like our heroes, who knows maybe one day will be there. For now we are four college kids eager about the ways of the world. Slowly we are finding our sound but one thing is certain, to our music we take an individualistic approach. Which means that contrary to most contemporary rock acts we try to solo and jam as much as possible. This most likely stems from our musical influences. Which include FREE, Led Zeppelin, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and everything in between.

The current music environment seems to be supportive of our type of music and we firmly believe that there is a blues and folk music revival. Thanks in part to projects such as the White Stripes and even John Mayer, blues inspired music is in the pop charts again. Please read on for more information about the members of our band.

Ana Kiricova (vocals): Age 22. Driven by her lyrical talents she seeks to create music by collaging melody with her writing. Her rhythmic sense is reminiscent of vocalists such as Paul Rodgers and Robert Plant and her influences include singers as well as poets. One thing to be noted is that Ana's poem "Sleep" was published in the 2001 edition of Anthology of Poems by Young Americans. She is currently studying chemistry at Benedictine University and is the president of Benedictine's chapter of the American Chemical Society.

Andrej Kiricov (guitar): Age 23. Andrej has been playing guitar for ten years. He is a Les Paul player and is influenced most by Peter Green and Michael Bloomfield. He studied guitar under the accomplished jazz guitarist John Moulder as well as the influential acoustic blues guitarist Fruteland Jackson. He graduated from Benedictine University with high honors and was named the "Overall Outstanding Senior of the College of Business" in 2009.

Tony Paris (bass): Age 21. His influences vary anywhere from Metallica to B.B. King. He has been playing bass for almost 10 years and he has played every twist joint imaginable in the city of Chicago. He is currently studying graphic design at Moraine Valley Community College.

Matt Foster (drums): Age 24. Matt is an accomplished jazz drummer. He has studied various forms of jazz percussion and was a member of the Benedictine Jazz trio. He graduated from Benedictine University in 2009 with a degree in Psychology.
