Bio

Rising from the ashes of local soul group The Bang Bangs, The Sphinxs have been making an impression in the local garage scene in a big way. Despite having been around for less than a year, the members of The Sphinxs have been playing in the local scene for years in bands like NoNoZero, DCT, The Wilderness, Good Times Running, and Deutschbanks. The Sphinxs have shared bills with everyone from garage-rock icons like Mark Sultan (BBQ) and Bloodshot Bill to local acts like Modern Superstitions, The Ultimate Most High, Ell V Gore and The Mercy Now, and have played to full houses at on-the-rise venues like Parts & Labour and The Piston, as well as garage-rock staple The Silver Dollar, and The Sphinxs show no signs of slowing down.

The Sphinxs sound hits you like a hurricane. The powerful vocals of Siânteuse LuLuBang are front and centre, while wailing organ and crunchy guitar leads weave in and out over top of an unrelenting and furious rhythm section. The only thing left to do is finish your drink and dance your way through the storm.

The Sphinxs are currently in the midst of recording their debut LP with Nyles Miszczyk, formerly of Toronto band The Job, which should see release in the spring/summer of 2011, and as great as 2010 was for The Sphinxs, 2011 should cement their reputation as one of the most powerful and skilled acts in the local garage scene.
