The Stackheels, The Dardanelles. Thursday May 26
Jager Uprising @ The Evelyn

The Dardanelles got on stage to a huge reception from their fans. Bring it on they were saying. The drummer hit it and the keyboard player hit a floor tom. All very Adam and the Ants.

These guys have really gelled since I last saw them. Tightened up the sound, cut down on the antics and let the songs speak for themselves. As previously stated I have a weakness for "new wave" bands. Especially Melbourne new wave bands. The Dardanelles at times sounded like The Models. That gently bopping sound, with the keyboard giving a distinctive tone. The crowd is bringing smiles to the faces of the band, relaxing them and giving them confidence.

The five piece band did a Buzzcocks cover and did it justice. Really impressed by the improvement in the bands confidence and songs. The crowd loved it and I had to be the ogre getting them to finish on time. Definitely worth catching.

The Stack Heels have the look that suggests they are up with the times. Starting with a couple of Stones inspired riffs they impressed. The vocals could do with some work, but the songs have got something going. Couple of gorgeous songs later in the set that hint at a real future. Well constructed and played and melody to die for. Looks, songs, The Stack Heels got it going on
